The Next Best Thing...

Olivia has made it clear over the years that she feels gypped by not having a sister. While she adores her two brothers, she longs to share clothes, dolls and dreams with a sister. Since we can't deliver on demand (nor are we planning to!), she is having to accept the fact that she is, and always will be, the only girl in the house.

Today, she and Jack were upstairs playing quietly for a very long time. She came down with an extremely mischievous look on her face, and excitedly introduced me to:

Jack was more than content and pleased to be wearing one of her dresses, a pair of her shoes, and carrying a sparkly purse.

They then proceeded to put on a little show:

While it's fun playing dress up, I know Jack will be back to his grubby, sweaty boy clothes in no time, and while Olivia longs for a sister, having a brother who is willing to play along for the afternoon is the next best thing!

Oh .. My .. Gosh! That cracked me up! I am still laughing. Hilarious! Jackie is beautiful! Love it. Tell Olivia she can have Mallory anytime if she feels the need to dress someone up. Poor Jack. And just so you know, we did the same thing to my little brother and he turned out just fine. Well .. sort of. =o)

That is hilarious!! I am crying!! He's a good sport to let her do that to him. Tell her she can come have Bella as a sister anytime she wants. Although, I don't know how much sharing clothes would be going on!

My girls had lots of sisters, but that didn't stop them from dressing up their brother, Jeff, in like manner (adding an "Annie" wig that we had) and taking him down the street to their aunt's house and introducing him to her as one of their new friends. She was a good sport and totally played along. They came home giggling that they had fooled Aunt Alyce!

Good thing for Olivia she has not only a brother who will play along, but a mom who would also understand the woes of being sisterless (at least until Madison came).
I think it is good Jack is a boy - he makes a very handsome boy and a little too handsome girl. No girl wants to be handsome...
